Example: Cave creatures can find food without using their sense of sight because they have heightened their other senses of hearing, smelling, and touch. According to Beneath the Earth: Cave Dwelling Animalsstates, "The olm uses it's highly developed senses of hearing and smell to find food." Without their sight, many animals heightened the use of their other senses to survive. The passage The Dark Zonepoints out, "The olm can sense vibrations through their ears." The vibrations allow the cave animals to know when other creatures are moving and nearby despite not being able to see movement. To conclude, animals can develop their abilities to survive in challenging environments.
